Hi,
Problem with its plug-in for opera. I just tried on win vista home basic and opera 9.25. The plug-in is not detected.

A side question: Is view pdf n browser unchecked by default? If yes, thats bad as new user will not even know if that exists.

Hi,

We are looking into this and hope to have a fix out early next week.

When you install PDF-XChange it asks if you want PDF-Xchange Viewer as your default Viewer - but will NOT open PDF's in a Browser automatically - you must go to : Edit Menu -> Preferences -> File Associations and set 'Open PDF in Browser'

Otherwise PDF's are not automatically opened in your browser.

hey, no matter what you like checking that box, the plug-in is not recognized by opera at all. thats what i mentioned in my post.
before releasing this version, you should have tested it, right. After all, these are not test buiilds, are they ? For a stable software release it is expected that it tests its existing features.

We did test - and on our test machines it DOES function.

thanks for the lecture - but testing in every conceivable enviroment is neither practicable nor possible.

If if it were - all software from that issued by the smallest to the very largest software house would be perfect - and as we all know only too well, it is not !

The very best we can offer is to test here in our admittedly limited situations and then release - we do endeavour to resolve issues as quickly as possible.

Better than that I am afraid we are unable to offer.

Did you buy the product? If yes, you may send it back and ask for a 100% refund ....

Thank you for that. Now working again in Opera.

Someone on the Opera forum said:
When click on pdf link, the page goes blank white for quite some time, as if nothing happening. then if I refresh the page, the pdf shows with slight delay. I don't know details but I can feel its not smooth experience.
The download progress indicator as in IE7 plugin would be nice if it is not too difficult.
Also, opera detects plug-in at the program source but still copies it to opera folder. So, there is duplication of plug-in.
I wondered about this too. Why is the plugin needed in Opera's plugin folder if it is detected in the pdf-viewer plugin folder? Users with Firefox installed too, will see three plugins.

Hi Bhikkhu,

1: Will check if it is possible to add the progress indicator (it depends when in the process Opera uses the plugin -- when PDF downloading starts, or only when the files is already downloaded; and of course assuming the plugin has the required info to pass on.)

2: Firefox requires that all plugins should be located within its plugins subfolder. Except Adobe -- there is workarround in the Firefox code which checks the registry to find where Adobe installed and uses Acrobat's plugins directly (there are no common rules for all other 3rd party plugins I am afraid)

I'm afraid the same is true for Opera. But opera also looks in the registry for FireFox plugins and because the plugin model is almost the same they try to use them too.

And as result it sees the same plugin in many places and attempts to use each one ......
