Issues with the Dynamic Stamp help page

Post by GTSu »

My aim is to have a simple text dialog to get a few characters before stamping them on a PDF. Before I attempt that, however, I figured I'd make a simple dynamic stamp first, to see how it works.

To this end I am following the article here: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgebase/277-How-do-I-create-and-use-dynamic-stamps-in-PDF-XChange-Viewer-and-PDF-XChange-Editor and have meticulously followed each step many times attempting to turn a basic stamp into a dynamic stamp.

I've tried creating the basic stamp from an open PDF, I've tried creating a transparent PNG in Photoshop and using that as the starting point in case that makes a difference. I can create a basic stamp with either method without issue.

I've made sure I'm editing a temporary copy of the PDF I moved from %Appdata%\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps.

When I use this stamp there is no dynamic text added - it looks identical to the basic stamp.

If I close PDFXChange and move the stamp back to a temporary folder and reopen it I see the form field exists with the correct javascript action applied as per the help page.

I'm at a loss. Is this an old help page, perhaps?

Hi GTSu,

thanks for the post. Getting the JavaScript to work in dynamic stamps can be a real challenge, do you want to send us your stamp file and we will take a look?

Just so you know, I was just told that we are making progress on a Dynamic Stamps builder that will not require any JavaScript knowledge or work. It's shaping up and will, I believe, provide a great way to make stamps in future.

In the meanwhile if you send me what you have we can take a look.
Best regards
