PDF from Autocad not naming correctly

Post by tblancha »

When I create a pdf from Autocad 2008, the pdf name is only part of the drawing name.
Example: Drawing name is "P060087.H2.30_3.dwg" which has 4 layouts in it name H2.30, H2.31, H2.32 and H2.33.
When I make the pdf, it names it "P060087.H2.30_3 H2.pdf" and does it 4 times with the same name because of 4 layouts. Which means it wants to overwrite itself.
It should name it according to what the layout name is.
IE: "P060087.H2.30", "P060087.H2.31", "P060087.H2.32" and "P060087.H2.33".
I have trialed Acroplot and Adobe and it does it correctly.
Can anyone help me with this. I only have the trial version because I will not purchase it if it does this normally.

Will fix into next build. if it is urgent for you and you know JavaScript, you can try to realize handling of file names from Autocad into titrules.js file which is located into pdfSaver folder under your installation path of PDF-XChange.

What would be the timeframe for the next build? Possibly looking at 100 users or more purchase??
Can you give me an updated js file with the changes and I can try it?
Thanks!

Try titrules.js file from attachment. Please extract it from attached ZIP file into the folder where current one is located.

Does exactly the same. No change.
I tried both ways with the "Strip Path from Document Name" thinking it might be that and it names it exactly the same both ways now. The document path doesn't show up at all either way. Which I don't want but I thought I would let you know.
Still cuts off the drawing/layout name. P060087.H2.10_3 H2.pdf
Do you have Autocad? I could send you a drawing with multiple layouts.

Please set on Save page of printing preferences dialog value of
File field to %[DocName].pdf all will works as expected (for example, the name of the file when you print H2.10 layout will be P060087.H2.10_3 H2.10.pdf). Trouble is because original file name we got is P060087.H2.10_3 H2.10, and PDF-XChange treats .10 as file extension, and replace it with .pdf.

Worked great. Thanks!
Another quick question I hope. Our secretary's are looking to batch print multiple documents at once and have it make a PDF file.
Can this program do that easily?
Thanks

Hi,

Assuming you mean MS Office files ?

Yes - if you have PDF-XChange PRO or Standard - see the OFFice2PDF application Icon on your desktop and the relevant section in the Help file?PDF manual.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
