Separate View history stack by document

Post by 329 »

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open document A. Press down till you reach page 5 (A5).
2. Open document B. Press down till you reach page 5 (B5).
3. Switch back to document A. Press down till you reach page 10 (A10).
4. Switch to document B. Press down till you reach page 10 (B10).
5. Close document B.
6. In document A window, press the Previous View button 10 times.

Expected behavior:
A10 > A9 > A8 > A7 > A6 > A5 > A4 > A3 > A2 > A1 > A1.

Actual behavior:
A10 > A9 > A8 > A7 > A6 > A5 > document B opens automatically at B10 > B9 > B8 > B7 > B6 > B5.

View history stack should be document-specific.

Hello, 329

We currently have an open feature request to add controls like this to the software, though it is a longstanding one and has proven to be low priority, I will be adding your support to it in hopes that can change!

RT#3923:FR: Option for navigate backward/forward to work only in current document and/or current Frame

I just discovered that there is already an option for this:

Settings: Documents tab: Back/Forward commands navigate through all opened documents.

Does this mean the open ticket should be closed as completed?

EDITED:

It seems indeed like the requested option already exists, and is working correctly.
Views are remembered for as long as the document stays open, even if other documents have been opened in between.

@Tracker Support
Do you know about a limitation on the number of views that can be remembered in PDF-XChange Editor ?
I did not immediately find an answer in this forum, nor in the online documentation.

Kind regards.

Yes, that is a rather old request from 2017, last described here in 2018.

Hopefully something can be done about this glitch of the view history.

Kind regards

Hi all,

The ticket status is still set to Open, which probably means that our developers still have some work to do on this feature.

As for the glitch, I will report it to our developers.

Regards.
