Can I unlock a locked document? SOLVED

I've never had this before. Our accountant sent me a file with a lock on it.

Am I unable to unlock it? What I want to do is run OCR on the document, not make any changes. Or is it locked purposely so that I can only view it?

Hello Lighthouse_Foundation,

The lock on that file was placed by it's document creator, so unless you know the "owner" password - you can not remove the lock. Even if you only want to OCR the file.

Hi,

I have a document I protected a year ago which it appears I protected, however a year later and I want to amend it and I seem to have forgot my password (tried everything I could have possibly have made it) and can't get in. How can I overcome this?

unfortunately there is no way top break that security. If you lost the password yo lost access to the features that were restricted.

If you allowed printing, you could create a new PDF from a print of the locked one by printing to PDF and get a copy.
