Hello community!
I've a short question. Is it possible to set the default PDF Froamt to PDF/A? At the moment we always change the settings to save.
In the setteings I can only use the version 1.4 ... 1.7.

Re: PDF/A as default
Hello, weite
I am afraid not, If you need to save a file as PDF/A from the editor, a manual "Save as > save as type > PDF/A" selection is required. If you are printing from another non PDF application, than our Standard printer offers options to save as PDF/A by default, but it is generally not recommended to print a PDF to PDF, as it can cause some data loss or unintended modification.
Kind regards,

Re: PDF/A as default
That's a great pity. I can change it in the word addin and in the printer settings, but not in the editor? But then it is.
Thanks for your answer.

@pdf-xchange support
Would it be possible to offer equal PDF Specification options for PDF-XChange Editor as for PDF-XChange Standard when creating new PDF documents ? However, I do not know, there are maybe reasons for not doing that, like restricted functionality ?
Can you ask the development team what they think about this ?

Re: PDF/A as default
Hello Willy Van Nuffel,
I believe that this has already been requested in the past - however if you create a blank file as PDF/A directly - it would then be locked. You will have to unlock it to add content, and then still would need to resave it as PDF/A.
The driver is directly generating and saving the PDF file with content, and will ensure that all the relevant extra info needed for the desired PDF/A version is included, while in the Editor you can add content to the opened file. So really the PDF/A specification should be forced at a time you are saving that file, not when creating it blank - and as such in the Editor that is in the save options.
However I will still check with our dev team to see if this is something that we might offer in the future!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: PDF/A as default
Thanks Stefan, that is a clear explanation.
It is therefore not self-evident to create new files in that format in PDF-XChange Editor.
Kind regards.
Willy
