how do you print the comments associated with the markup?

Post by swhitman »

When I markup text with the highlight or strike-through tools I usually double click the markup and add a comment in a pop-up box. When I print the document the markup is printed but not the pop-up comment. Is there a way to print the comment?

See Printing Sticky Notes

Please try a search next time. The facility works very well.

Thanks for pointing that out, but I said comments not sticky notes. It seems very reasonable to me to print out the comments, either the popup or at least a summary sheet.

There is no "Comment" tool — only Text boxes, Callouts, rectangles, etc., all of which print by default. Only sticky notes won't print, which is why I assumed that is what you meant by comments.

Have you changed the "Print Document and Markup" option in the print dialogue to "Print Document"?

Try double clicking a highlight, strike-through, or underline markup. A popup box will appear and allow you to enter a comment. You can double click an oval and other markup items and add comments to them also.

Very useful!

They are certainly very useful, but they're only sticky notes with a different subject property, so the comments by Tracker Support in the linked thread apply to them too.

PDF-XChange is a great tool for colloboration on documents. You can reply to comments and sticky notes, but they won't print. I think that is correct. If you want markup to print, then add a text box or callout.

I have updated the section in my review on Comments and Markup to illustrate the comments on markup as well as regular sticky notes. I have added a note to make it clear that comments won't print, whereas markup will if that printing option is enabled.
