The PDF-XCE application now has useful margin indicators showing the vertical location on the page of Find and Search results. But it does not show the horizontal location.
As large page/sheets are now possible, it would be useful to have horizontal locator indicators on the bottom margin of the viewing pane, wouldn't it?
Thanking you in advance for your favorable consideration of this suggestion.

Re: Feature Request: Horizontal Placement Idicators For Find and Search
Hello, PHK
It is still not possible to *Create* pages any larger than before, and it is still generally not advised to push pages to the limit, we have only expanded sizes for what the editor allows viewing of. With that said, Horizontal indicators are shown when in the "ribbon page layout" view mode, instead of the normal vertical lines, so this request may be possible. Although that is still intended as a "full document" set of results, and not a "per page" item, so I cannot promise that it would be viable. (EG, even in single page mode, the veritcal scrollbar is for the entire document, the red line is the "top" of page 3: I will pass it along to the Dev team and see what they think.
Kind regards,

Hello, again
Unfortunately, at this time, the request has been rejected. We will keep an eye on this and may reconsider in the future, but for now, I am afraid it is not planned.
Kind regards,

Re: Feature Request: Horizontal Placement Idicators For Find and Search
I take your point and I had not considered that. As I am busily trying to get away from legacy page formats like A4 and letter and increasingly structuring large single-sheets loaded with multiple old-style pages, I am interested in navigating around those single sheets and my suggestion would be, I thought, a logical extension of what PDF-XCE already offers but only for the Y-axis.TrackerSupp-Daniel wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:40 pm ...

Hello PHK,
While you might consider A4 and Letter legacy formats - still quite a few things need to be printed out to paper - so those and quite a few other are not likely to disappear any time soon.
Even though I find your approach fascinating - as per Dan's post above we are not currently looking at implementing that feature, sorry!
Kind regards,
Stefan

I don't expect printing on paper to die out in my lifetime -- some legacies die hard -- but that doesn't mean that the future should not be accomodated now. I would guess that there is no real need for data to be transmitted in a print-friendly format if it is never to be printed in most situations. If that day is not now, it will be soon. Even in paper-intense industries like the legal profession, printing on paper is the last thing anyone wants to do.
It took a long time for algebra to over-shadow basic four-function arithmetic (which never really went away) and I do not expect single-page format to go away altogether, either. But, like algebra is to math, I see large data sheets made up of many, many single 'pages' as the future. And it is doable now. If I owned your company, leadership in that future would be seen as something worth being part of.
