Hi,
I would really like to see a feature added that will make it possible to extract a set of full pages with certain selected group(s) of comments (i.e. have the same subject name) or extract a set of full pages that have comment(s) aasigned to a certain selected layer(s).
As with the current/latest build, I'm able to assign a set of comments to a specific layer then extract that selected layer to a new pdf file.
However, the new created pdf file will only include the selected layer(s)/comments and will otherwise have empty pages; in ther words, it wont include the original page(s) content in the new created file.
If you can add that feature, would be highly beneficial and appreciated.
Thanks!
Sam

Re: Feature Request-Ability to extract Pages with Selected Layer or Group of Comments
You can do that now with two existing functions.
* Select your comments,
* From the Comments Panel options, hit Select Corresponding Thumbnails,
* From the Thumbnail Panel options, hit Extract Pages,
* Select the Selected Pages option,
* Create a destination file and its location, and
* hit Enter.
Open that file and you have your pages.

Open that file and you have your pages.
All best,

Re: Feature Request-Ability to extract Pages with Selected Layer or Group of Comments
P. S. Those steps above can also be part of a solution to the question of how do you extract pages from a Search result which I hadn't thought possible until now.
Conduct your Search in the usual manner, select any one of the four sub-options under the Annotate Search Results options and then proceed as above.
Thank you, Sam, for asking for this functionality as it opens the way for some possibilities by using a few simple steps to achieve quite a lot, even without building a new software function. Perhaps some JS experts can figure out a way of stringing these functions together for a single executable.

Hello, PHK
This is indeed a brilliant way to accomplish this, I was trying to come up with a solution to this yesterday and completely overlooked those options. Keep up the good work, everyone.
Kind regards,

Re: Feature Request-Ability to extract Pages with Selected Layer or Group of Comments
Thanks FringePhil for your important input!
That is indeed a workaround to achieve these two important features (the one I mentioned and the one you added about extracting search results).
What I personally like to do is to assign a custom keyboard shortcut for each of these steps to make it a faster execution.
For comments extraction to a new pdf, I assigned:
-Alt+S (for Select related Thumbnails)
-Alt+E (for extracting pages) then click on "Selected" to extract the pages with selected comments.
For extracting search results into a new pdf:
-Alt+U (for undeline search results)
-Alt+S (for Select Corresponding Thumbnails)
-Alt+E (for extract pages) then click on "Selected" to extract the pages with the search results.
Best،
Sam

Re: Feature Request-Ability to extract Pages with Selected Layer or Group of Comments
Sorry I should clarify that with this workaround, the extracted pages will contain all the comments on these pages, i e. not only the selected comments/search results.
With the new layer created approach, only the selected comments will be extracted to a new pdf but with the limitation that the extracted pages will be otherwise empty pages as mentioned earlier.
Maybe something can be looked at in the future by the Dev team
Cheers,
Sam

@Sam: Glad to have helped! I assign and use hot keys for those things that I need to do frequently, so those you have assigned should work for you.
I am not sure I understand what you are trying to do with Comments, though. I understand how the Comments get saved to a file with no other content but if you want to marry-up those Comments with a file that has content, can't you just import the Comments into that content file?

Re: Feature Request-Ability to extract Pages with Selected Layer or Group of Comments
Hello, PHK and samermaan
In the past we have seen requests like this, with relation to layers.
The trouble is that, "layers" in a PDF are not like layers in other formats. Even if used thoroughly, they are not a divider, container, or anything of the like that exists on the page, they are simply a property to "flag" the "show/hide" button for multiple objects at once.
They should actually have been called "optional visibility groupings", but the term layers was coined by Adobe long before anyone else offered this feature for a PDF... Which simply caused more confusion, as they added a feature by the same name to their photoshop lineup which works in the normal sense of the term.
As such, I cannot promise that performing this in relation to layers will be possible at this time, but the Dev team has already seen such requests, and will be considering it again in the future when we are looking at this area.

Yes, the terminology is confusing. I had been using PhotoShop and its layers long before the technology to manipulate PDF files was available. Your explanation is helpful in rewiring my brain to attune myself to the distinctions.
