Ribbon > Format not refreshing using Tab group

Hi,

There is an issue with the format ribbon with Tab grouping.

PDF-XChange Editor 10.3.0 Build 386

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have Pencil and Highlight Tool in Quick Tools
1. Open a PDF
2. Open an other PDF in vertical Tab group
3. Select the left tab
4. Select the Pencil Tool in the left PDF Quick Tools pannel (see the Pencil Tool format on ribbon)
5. Select the Highlight Tool in the right PDF Quick Tools pannel

Bug : The Pencil Tool format is still displayed on the ribbon
Expected behaviour : The Highlight Tool format should be displayed on ribbon

In order to fix the issue, I have to click the corresponding PDF tab so that PDF-XChange detects the active tab.

Fix : PDF-XChange should switch active tab when clicking Quick Tools buttons.

I have reported this to the Dev team for review. This seems like a case where your use case has gone beyond our expectations. Normally tool styles are only accessible from tabs/windows which are tied to that specific document, the side bar has changed that longstanding truth, and it is now possible to access tools for another document while that file is not "in focus".

The format tab shows items relevant to the "active" document, and changing the tool in use for the file does not necessarily force that docuemnt to be in focus. If you click anywhere inside the document using that new tool selection, the format tab will change just as it did when you clicked on the document title. The tool is being changed and enabled for use in that document, it just is not reflected as the "active" file has not changed with it.

I cannot promise a change here, but we will be looking into this when the team has time. For now, I hope this knowledge helps you to circumvent the issue.

This issue was marked fixed in build 387 but it's not completely the case as it's still reproducible with Custom Styles pinned on Quick Tools.

Steps to reproduce
1. Add Custom Styles on Quick Tools using Customize Toolbars > Commands (e.g: three different highlighter colors)
2. Reproduce the same steps
- Have two files opened in Tab Group
- Select a tool on left file Quick Tools
- Select a tool on right file Quick Tools

Current behavior
No issue if the tool isn't a custom style
In the GIF below,
- Orange/Green/ Yellow Highlighter Tools are custom styles
- Underline Text Tool isn't a custom style
