What is the difference between "Save As" and "Export"? SOLVED

In both options I see the options "MS Word Document (*.docx)" / "MS Excel Workbook (*.xlsx)" / "MS PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx)" and "Export to Microsoft Word Document" / "Export to Microsoft Excel" / "Export to Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation" respectively. I would assume that the "Export" list is for actions that transfer the content of the current PDF document to the application, but in the same list there is an "Export to Image(s)" item, the selection of which does not transfer anything to another application, but performs a function "Save As" in my assumed logic.

I assume there was some reason for the separation, but it escapes my understanding.

I believe it is redundancy for the sake of convenience. I asked the devs their thoughts, we will see what they say.

this tool is intended (at some time in the future) to act as a replacement for nearly all the other "specific" export tools, which would make it the generic save action
