PDF X-Change Lite suddenly prints to Brother printer

The registered version of PDF X-Change Lite on my Windows 11 desktop has suddently started printing to my default Brother printer instead of the PDF-XChange Editor. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Do you mean that when you are printing from another app, such as MS Word, and you select our "Lite printer" the output is coming out to your brother printer, instead of as a PDF?

There should be no way for this to happen, unless someone has renamed one of your printer devices..

Can I ask for a screenshot of the print dialogue and printer properties in this case?

Thanks, it did seem exactly that strange to me too. This was printing from Outlook 365. It turned out to be only one of several printer symptoms I ended up correcting, and I don't know which step fixed the problem, though I do have a thought about it. I think it wasn't a problem with PDF X-Change (Lite or otherwise).

I subscribe to a reputable Windows newsletter that's connected to a terrific forum. There's one columnist I have doubts about, though. She's always recommending "cool" (I would say junk) software and this time I made the mistake of trying one of her suggestions. I won't do THAT again.

Later, after I installed her recommended software and found the PDF X-Change printing problem, I also found other problems: my Brother printing software was gone (!) but the printer still printed -- poor quality documents all of a sudden.

So I got rid of the junk software, uninstalled PDF X-Change, rebooted and reinstalled the Brother and Tracker software, and everything is working normally again.

I wrote some Windows shareware myself back in the day, and I don't think it's all junk (or "cool" either), but some is. I do think the Windows ecosystem has evolved a lot since then, making a quite a bit of shareware unnecessary. Your PDF X-Change software products are among the many products I do think are needed and wonderful. I wouldn't want to be without it. But I'm certainly never going to pay attention to that particular columnist again. Sheesh.

Another lesson I learned (again) is that the tried and true problem solving steps of uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling are powerful tools that should often be tried before posting about a problem somewhere.
