how to set Betterbird as standard to send email

I use Betterbird as Standard email program.
So, I installed this program in PDF Xchange Editor as option to send. All was fine for months and years. Last week I set standard apps on Windows10 and divined Betterbird as standard again.
Now I get a dialogue of Outlook to define a new profile. I tried many times to fix and to define as standard in the editor, too.
No chance!

thanks for the post. You should be able to set Betterbird as the default mail client in Windows and expect it to work:

As well as making Betterbird the default I also associated it with .msg file types. I am not sure if that was actually necessary for the Editor to use it, but it helps with opening such messages. We now can handle .msg files natively.

sory to return to this topic.
But it seems to some confuseion after the last automatic update of the PDF XChange Editor (and Tools). So the oppening of PDF is offered and the extension is lead to the editor. (sstandard app). But double click on a PDF document does _not_ open the app. I have to open amnually to se my document /starting the app only and the document is shown)
This is not satisfactory...

The file associations for this are set in BetterBird as I am sure you are aware.

When you do this, does the Editor show up in the Windows Task Manager?

well, just the moment:: Yes. But not every time.
But I shopuld add that my last message concerns to the explorer and nopt on Betterbird...

so double clicking a PDF in Explorer does not launch our Editor? Does an alternative launch, or just nothing?

I would then ask the same question about Explorer, does the Editor appear in the Task Manager after you double click the PDF file?

What is set for the PDF association in the Windows Settings then?

well the same answer as before: Just the moment it works. But very often I wait minutes till I start PDF Xchaange Editor manually. Tehen suddenly the wished docoment pops up in the editor.
I ss ofr better I suppose that this is not the matter of the editor but of the system.
But have you any idea? Is it a problem of RAM?

It is a bit unclear on the status of your test with the task manager. so I will provide both answers here.

• If the Editor is appearing in the task manager when you try to open a PDF file, but the application itself does not open, than there is likely an error on our end, and we will want to investigate that. If this happens, please take a "process dump" of the editor application from the task manager at this point, before opening it manually. Then send that file to us, if it is too large to send by email, let me know and I will create a file drop link for you to upload it to our servers directly.
• If the Editor is not appearing in the task manager, that would imply that windows is failing, or getting stuck on trying to pass the file to our application, which should automatically launch it to view the file in question. If this is the case, please ensure that you have all windows updates installed, and have restarted since doing so. This would most likely indicate a windows error, but if you are open to it, we can see if the Dev team would like to take a look, and possibly arrange a remote debugging session.

Just the moment I tested but it works. So I haver to wait until the problem appears again and show that it consists.
