Good morning everyone,
I have lots of sessions that I have manually stored in PDF-Xchange. I haven't exported or saved them in individual files, but used the funktion "Save Current Session" in the "Open" menu.
By accident I have reset my settings and all my previously saved sessions seem to be gone. So I was wondering if there is a possibilty to restore those lost sessions or if there is a path where those custum sessions are located. This is quite important to me since I indeed have lots of saved sessions from the past.
Many thanks in advance!
Where are custom sessions stored?

Re: Where are custom sessions stored?
Hello boshiume,
Those would be stored in the registry under
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Settings\CustomSessions
So if you have reset your settings - that registry tree is likely gone, so unless you have a backup/restore point of your machine with the older version of the registry I do not think you can recover those. You will probably need to recreate your sessions, but you can then export your Editor settings so that you have a back up for the future.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Where are custom sessions stored?
Hi Stefan,
thank you very much for the swift reply. I actually do have a back up image of Windows including the registry hives, but I don't really know how to access them. Knowing this might not be a question for this forum, is there any chance you can help me out on reading the neccessary files to restore my saved sessions?
Thanks again!

Hello boshiume,
You are correct that such kind of help would be beyond the scope of what we can provide, but I hope you can find some tutorials or articles in an internet search.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Where are custom sessions stored?
Hi,
I would like to create a backup of many sessions saved using Save Current Session...
I would suggest to immediately store them on local drive so that it's not necessary btw
I just made the same mistake as well, all my sessions are gone.
Is there a way to bulk create .xcesession files for those sessions ?Stefan - PDF-XChange wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 8:28 am Those would be stored in the registry under

Hello, Loki@99
Not in bulk, but you can right click on any session that is saved internally, and "export" that session to quickly create such a file one at a time for any that are stored this way. Kind regards,

Hi Daniel,
Hence my suggestion to immediately store them on local drive.
Well, it's not really convenient with more than 10 sessions saved for e.g.Daniel - PDF-XChange wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 7:59 pm Not in bulk, but you can right click on any session that is saved internally, and "export" that session to quickly create such a file one at a time for any that are stored this way.

Re: Where are custom sessions stored?
Hello, Loki@99
For the time being I cannot make any promises, but the Dev team will eventually review this, and get back to us if they plan to implement such an option.
[Edit] We have a ticket:
RT#7345: FR: Export sessions in bulk
