I used to have an HP OfficeJet 6950 Printer/Scanner which died. I now have a Canon G6020 Printer/Scanner. The OfficeJet Printer has long been removed from the computer using the Windows 11 configuration. However, when I try to select a scanner in PDF-XChange, it defaults and hangs showing OfficeJet as selected. I can go to the Custom Scanner settings and temporarily change to the G6000 series scanner, but the default remains the OfficeJet. On the other Scanner dropdowns, the program just hangs (I presume because it can't find the OfficeJet print drivers).
So how can I change the scanner default settings to go to the Canon print driver instead of the old OfficeJet scanner.
Possibly related info: I should add that when scanning thru Corel's PrintShop, I find both the OfficeJet and Canon printers shown as selectable (no apparent default), but it's not a problem as I can simply select the Canon printer.
Thanks for your help.
Scott

Re: Change of Printer/Scanner
Hello, ScottRh
The Scanner driver list comes from windows itself, so the most likely case here is that windows still thinks the scanner exists, and that is where the delay comes from, as it tries to connect and confirm the connection when we prompt it for a device list.
Can you open your windows "Printers & Scanners" list, and double check to verify that the scanner device is not present there? I expect that you will find it is still there.
If it is, please use the "remove device" option there, and then restart your PC to ensure windows properly clears out the devices list. After that, reloading our software should pull the new system default scanner.
If you do not see the problematic scanner there, I will need to consult with the Dev team to see what else could cause this oddity to occur. Please let us know what you find.
Kind regards,

Re: Change of Printer/Scanner
I've checked the Printers & Scanners in the Settings screen a dozen times (also with multiple reboots), but I just went ahead and checked again. No HP printers in the list.
However, I just thought of the Apps, and found four HP OfficeJet apps installed (I think I left them there thinking I might someday try to restore that printer). In any case, I just removed those apps and tried the PDF-XChange scan again, and it defaulted to the Canon. Hooray. Problem solved. You can close the case.
Thanks for your response.
