Post by joxeme »

Hi,

Sometimes when using Replace i lost the Font Style, here the "E" is different (green) and i get extra spaces (yellow) between "DIC". This also happens sometimes when editing the text, i get the cursor inside the word but when writing the Font Family is another...

Hi,

It seems like both documents have been created from Microsoft Word : one PDF via "Microsoft Print To PDF" and one via "Save As" to PDF.

When converting from Word to PDF, always try to avoid doing this via File > Print > PDF-printer.
The original fonts will not completely be embedded in the PDF (some characters will be missing) and whatever PDF-editor will have problems with it. That is what you see when using "Edit Text" or "Find/Replace".

"Save As" to PDF is a better method. In this case, try to avoid font-embedding in the PDF-document (in Word, un-check "Embed fonts in the file", via the File-menu > Options > Save) AND always try to use system fonts like Arial, Calibri, ... (fonts that are part of the default Windows- and/or MS Office-fonts).

A last method you can use to convert from Word to PDF, is opening the Word-document directly with PDF-XChange Editor.

To resolve the current problem, try to re-convert the Word document to PDF, or in the current PDF try to replace the embedded fonts by fonts that are available on your computer, by using the "Replace Fonts"-option in the Convert-ribbon in PDF-XChange Editor.

Does that help ?

Thank you Willy Van Nuffel, will do as suggested!! ;)

Any advantages between: Save as PDF vs Export-Create PDF vs PDFXchange plugin? (for this one i would appreciate options to print only certains pages...)

Hi,

In Microsoft Word, the features "Save As PDF" and "Export to PDF" are the same, reachable via different ways.
In most cases these options are sufficient for most people.

The PDF-XChange "Convert to PDF" add-in offers some additional options/customizations for hyperlinks, bookmarks, specific options for Word, graphics compression and/or down-sampling, embedding fonts, include watermarks and/or overlays, security options, include additional headers and/or footers, ... This add-in is part of the "PDF-XChange Standard printer" package.
