Add reply not available for comments of certain types

The possibility to add replies to comments via right click seems not to work for certain types. They display just fine if added with a different tool.

Reproduce by right clicking on a comment and hitting the "Add reply" button - it's not there for some of the comments.

From what I tested, working: Sticky note, Highlight, Underline, Strikeout, Insert text, everything in the groups Drawing and Measure
Tested not working: Everything in the group Text (i.e. Typewriter, text box, callout), Replace text
Not tested: Attach file, sound, Media.

thanks for the post. we looked into this and see that this behaviour, while nor specifically counter to the PDF specifications, is not what certain competitors that begin aith an "A" do, so we have decided to implement the feature in the Editor also.

While for internal use only, I have raised a formal ticket for this. If you want updates, please refer to RT#5342: Add reply not available for comments of certain types and any support staff member will be able to get you a status update.

Is there any roadmap for this implementation?

I am afraid that I cannot currently offer a timeline for this. I can however say that the work item is "open" at the moment, indicating that one the developer it has been assigned to is aware of it and it is in their backlog to work through. Unfortunately for the time being, this is not a high priority, so it may yet be further delayed.

I'm facing the same issue where I can't reply to callout comments, "Add reply" is greyed out.

Any one know the solution? it is critical for me to reply to all comments

Welcome to our forum.

I don't think CallOut was designed to be able to add replies to it.

There are limits to what you can do with a PDF file.

Please use a type of annotations that you can reply to, in order to do what you need.

My company migrated from Adobe Acrobat to XChange editor.

Previously, I was able to reply on all comments including callout type, however with XChange, when I open a file that I worked on Adobe, I can see my replies to the callouts but I can't add any new replies to those.

Is is necessary to be able to reply to all comments types especially when working the markups documents

Please consider enabling replies for such comments.

I am checking with our devs now whether they think that it should be possible to add replies to a callout annotation, and if they do - we will update the ticket as well!

Still can't add replies to text comments in version 10.
The ability to add replies to all comment types, including text and call-out, is standard across other PDF viewers and editors so should be pushed up the priority list.

Can you please specify what build of v10 are you testing in ? ( you can check that in your Help >> About panel).

Retesting the initial reported test.pdf file in 10.5.2.395 seems to work for text comments:
