Thanks for this fantastic PDF software. Moved from Acrobat about 5 months ago after testing for a while. Just wow, night and day difference Anyway:
Is there a way to "uncouple" the ribbon and panes that are displayed between different windows?
For example, I would like to have the bookmark pane open for one window but not another so that I can have one view with the bookmarks pane (on my landscape monitor) and one without (on my portrait monitor) when I'm viewing two PDFs in separate windows.
welcome to the family! I am pleased you are enjoying the software.
Indeed you can "pull" a tab out of the main Window and it will be in it's own frame. Each frame can have it's own tools open, so you can have "Bookmarks" on one document and not another:

You can have them in the same frame and still have unique tools:

Look for these guides when dragging frames and windows around, they will help you arrange things the way yo want:

The question seems to go about : What to do for having certain panes in one window, and not having them in the other window.
This can be done by turning off the "Synchronize the layout of document panes..." option, via the File-menu > Preferences > General > (Tabs and Windows) Setup...
Kind regards.
