Seiten per Barcode trennen

Post by Mirko1973 »

Hallo,

Hello,
I have to scan a lot of pages every day and am looking for a way to scan them all together and have them separated automatically, for example, with a page with a barcode between the pages. Is this possible?

Thank you for your help and tips.

Hello Mirko1973,

Welcome to our forums!
You can scan your documents, then create a single long PDF out from it, and you can then split it e.g. every e.g. 5 pages:

However if your source documents are with different length and you will need to split by a start page - unfortunately the above might not work. You can however try to generate bookmarks for your scanned result, and then split by the bookmarks tree.

Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello Mirko1973,

If the software that comes with your scanner does not have the feature to automatically separate and save by using patch codes, you may want to try using Patch-T patch codes with the Batch Scanning feature of NAPS2.

  • NAPS2 - Not Another PDF Scanner
    https://www.naps2.com/
    • NAPS2 - Batch Scanning
      https://www.naps2.com/doc/batch-scan
      • Patch Code
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_Code
I hope that someday PDF-XChange Editor will also support patch codes and support automatic separation and bookmarking etc. The Kodak patch code, as used in NAPS2, seems to be relatively well known, but my Canon scanner (DR-6030C) uses a different patch code.

Dreaming 10 years into the future, the ultimate ideal would be for PDF-XChange to produce a new patchcode that supports the rich functionality of the PDF-XChange Editor.

      Best regards,

      Hello, rakunavi

I am not entirely sure what would be involved in creating such "patch codes", or if it would be something our Dev team is interested in. I will have to speak with my colleagues here and perhaps we can bring it up in a company meeting.

      Hi all,

Myself, I was not aware about the existence of Patch Codes ...

      See for example: https://www.accusoft.com/barcodes/patch-code-barcodes/

So, I think the main question here is not about how to create these patch codes, but how to recognize them, especially the code for starting a new document.

      Kind regards.

Hi all, thank you for your comments.

The AI Overviews that appear at the beginning of a Google search for "QR patch code PDF separation" roughly summarize what I want to talk about this topic. However, the content of the AI summary seems to change with each search.

My point was that even if we use the QR code as it is as a patch code, in order to effectively drive each function of PDF-XChange Editor and PDF-Tools, we would have to define the data format in advance to distinguish it from other QR codes and barcodes in the scanned document. This is what I referred to in my last post as producing a new patch code.

Currently, when scanning, settings in dialogs, etc., are applied to all pages at once, and no fine control is possible. However, it seems to me that if we could insert patch codes to change the behavior of each batch, it would expand the usage.

Scanning software and PDF editing software each have their own large markets, but there is a lot of overlap between the two. Even a small amount of the best parts of scanning software might contribute to attracting potential users.

      Best regards,
      rakunavi

      Hello, rakunavi

I cannot disagree there, the strangest features always seem to bring in the most new people to any project. I cannot say much until I have heard back from the others, but if this is a possibility, I will be back here to post about it.
