Suggestion: Improved Standard Colors

The current standard colors are:

These are sort of okay, but not particularly great when I want to highlight something, etc.

What I propose is replacing the existing standard colors with some that are more like these (there is a link at the end of the post to the website with a palette you can adjust):

The column at the right includes colors that have been optimized for highlighting dark text. Also, I recognize that the palette I provided probably has too many gradations, but you can delete some as necessary to create whatever size palette you want. Here is an example with the image rotated so it has the same number of columns as the existing standard colors palette in PDF-XChange:

Another idea is to just do away with the colors optimized for highlighting and let users rely on the second row of light colors for that purpose, like this:

I believe a consistent color palette such as this would make it much easier for users like me to choose different colors for highlighting, shapes, etc. The current choices, especially for highlighting, I find greatly lacking.

Current standard colors are somehow cluttered.

In comparison, Microsoft Word colors list is pretty clean

Forgive me for saying, but the current palette seems just plain Weird. I am sure there is some rational back story to it, though.

I have found it useful to reduce the opacities of some colors and to create custom colors to make them a bit more useful.

The Word colors are better than the random hodgepodge in PDF-XChange (side note, you can change the color palette in Word by changing the theme). However, the options in Word still aren't that great. For example, the three columns on the left of the palette you posted shows various gradations of white, gray and black. Also, there are two columns of blue colors that are very similar to each other.

Here is another option that is similar to the last one in my original post except I removed the pink (orange, red, and pink are somewhat similar) and added a column for brown. I think I like this one the best because it gives lots of distinct colors for highlighting (the bottom two rows), text colors (the top two rows), and colors for other things such as shapes, lines, etc.

I will share the colors for each square as soon as I can. All of them except the brown can be found in the link I shared in the original post, but I'll see what I can do to put together a nice package with the hex number for each color.

If you want the color of each square, they can be found at the link below. You can get the hex color code for each color by clicking on the color and copying the hex color code from the top center of page. You use this to add the color as a custom color to PDF-XChange.

I am glad to hear you both have found a way to get a usable/optimal layout in the current UI layout, as I am sorry to say this request has been rejected at this time. The Dev team may reconsider in the future, but for now we have many much higher priority requests to handle, and the color UI has fairly recently undergone an overhaul already.
