Hi,
I've just come across the following issue: till now, when combining files to a single pdf, the documents making up the file would keep their own title and bookmarks and thus it was easy to create a table of contents, export the bookmarks etc.
I did the same now yet the bookmarks list does not correspond to the documents I've combined - it's as if it's kept the bookmarks from a different, previous document. Naturally, none of the bookmarks work.
Is there a way I can repopulate the bookmarks list on the basis of the titles of the files that make it up? They should be stored someplace, right (or so I hope)?
Best,
Theo
Problem with bookmarks (generic title, I know) - way of repopulating them?

Hello, Ted1976
Can you please confirm that this option is enabled in the combine files dlg > Options: Unfortunately, the process of combining files is unable to retain previous document metadata in the way you are hoping, so there will not be any way to automatically add these root bookmarks in it after a file was generated without them.
It may also be helpful if you could sent us a bundle of file, perhaps 3 or 4 in which you encounter this issue, and the resultant generated combined file?
Kind regards,

Re: Problem with bookmarks (generic title, I know) - way of repopulating them?
Hi Dan,
Very, very many thanks for this - it was not enabled. I had a go at it and it works just fine (am not sure but I think it the previous version it was on by default, or maybe I had it enabled and had forgotten about it).
Problem solved (I should just remember to click on it every time I combine documents).
I know have another question though: for each document included in the single pdf file I need to put (I use the typewriter function) the word Annex and a number. Would it be possible to direct pdf exchange to create bookmarks based on the word Annex? There's this option on creating bookmarks from page text but could not make it work.
Many thanks again,
Theo

Hello Theo,
Depending of what you are looking to bookmark - you will need to create regex that capture those elements.
For instance If I am looking to create bookmarks only for "Annex" that are at the beginning of line and have digit after that I will use something like this:
