All comments and associated comment tools show as black/white and not color. Printouts are color only?
A document created in another program that includes color that is converted to a PDF is shown in color. All later comments are created in PDFXchange are black and white.

Welcome to our forums.
Can you please share some screenshots (of the whole Editor window) - with one of those comments selected, as well as with the commenting menus visible?
I suspect that the "Black and White" is the appearance you've currently selected for a tool, however those should be able to be changed, and you to be able to add comments in any colour and even save them as separate styles:
