Dear Software Developers,
Hello! I am a user in the printing industry and have recently started using PDF-XCHANGE. This software is highly functional and has brought many conveniences to my work. However, during testing, I discovered a significant issue.
When I use the PDFTOOLS software to convert CMYK color mode images into PDF format, the software automatically converts them to RGB color mode, which is completely contrary to my expectations. I have checked relevant information and found that this problem has existed since 2018 and remains unfixed to this day. Additionally, I have not found an option to change this setting in the software.
In the printing industry, the CMYK color mode is the standard because it can more accurately represent printing effects. The RGB color mode is primarily used for screen display. Automatically converting CMYK to RGB can cause color deviations during printing, significantly affecting print quality and disrupting our workflow and plans.
I understand that developing excellent software requires substantial effort and time, and I greatly appreciate the practical tool PDF-XCHANGE you have provided for users. I hope you will attach importance to this long-standing color mode conversion bug and arrange for a fix as soon as possible. Furthermore, I hope that when converting PDFs to images, the CMYK mode can be added as an option. This will not only improve the user experience for us but also further enhance the software's competitiveness in professional fields.
Thank you for your attention!

Re: CMYK color mode images into PDF format BUG
Hello CN_SZCG,
Welcome to our forums.
You are correct that CMYK colours are more useful in the printing industry, however supporting those (and still working correctly with RGB) is quite a complex task. We are currently always converting all colours to RGB, and there's no way to preserve CMYK colours I am afraid. So for your print quality needs - our Editor might not offer the best colours. Our focus is more on screen appearance and representation, and as such proper CMYK support is still not available. I will check with our devs, however even if something in that regard is planned it is not going to be a near term one!
Kind regards,
Stefan
