Scan Quality and File Size

Post by Oldyellr »

I have Version 7.0 and am quite happy with it. I have noticed that OCR scans are quite large and have been shrinking some on line. But I have Quality set at 600 and Accuracy at High. I notice that at Quality 300, the file size is about half and about the same at Auto. What do you recommend?

Hello, Oldyellr

So long as the OCR quality remains ideal, the choice is yours. The OCR engine in place for our V7 products, generally perform best on images between 300-600 DPI, so either option should produce ideal results. The only exception there would be if the text in your document is exceptionally small, in which case, the higher DPI would be better.

It's you call, but I would say to play it by ear, since the correct answer changes with each document. if you perform the OCR and encounter an issue, undo that OCR, and try again with different settings.
