Preserve layers when flattening comments

Is it possible for comments that are assigned a layer to keep that layer when they are flattened? Currently the content that results from flattening is all assigned to no layer. Or any other possible workaround to assign to a specific layer when flattening?

I do not believe there is a way to do so at the moment, but I have raised this with the Dev team as a proposed feature request. We will have to wait and see what they say, if this is accepted, I will return with a ticket number in time.
