[bug] PDF-Tools does not always launch via Shell Menu

Post by Jensen Head »

Has anyone encountered the problem of unstable launch of tools via the context menu of Windows File Explorer? I do not understand what this could be connected with, because before build 396 I do not remember having to repeat the launch of the command for the selected files, because the tool of PDF-Tools does not always launch the first time. Sometimes it launches on the second try, sometimes on the third. Sooner or later it launches. Sometimes it launches on the first try a dozen times in a row.

So far I have only found out that these same tools always launch on the first try via the PDF-Tools interface (main window); the problem does not depend on whether the PDF-Tools application itself is running or not, and does not depend on whether I use only the keyboard or the mouse (I understand, it's still shamanism, but you will not believe in what stupid reasons bugs are sometimes hidden).

Hello, Jensen Head,

Thank you for the report.

It might be the same issue as described here:
Execution on the command line with the "pdft.tool.splitMergePDF" option causes to crash depending on the configuration

Could you please check whether PDF Tools process appears in the Task Manager when you're attempting to run a tool from the Shell Menu, but it doesn't launch?
