When an item is selected in the Thumbnails pane, right-clicking on the background of the pane (in a different location than the selected item) will bring up a context menu for the selected item. The same is true for any other part of the PDF-XChange Editor, such as the Bookmarks pane, the Named Destinations pane, the Comments pane, the Links pane, the Layers pane, the Stamps palette, and so on.
In contrast, right-clicking on the background in a common Windows application, such as Explorer, when a file is selected, will deselect the file and display a context menu associated with the folder (unrelated to the selected item). Even the PDF-XChange Editor behaves like any other application, e.g., in the Open File dialog box.
- The capture software used (ScreenToGif) displays a yellow circle around the mouse cursor when the left mouse button is clicked
and a red circle when the right mouse button is clicked, so you can tell which mouse button was clicked just by looking at the screen.
Of course, it is a matter of preference, and I am not saying that PDF-XChange Editor's unique behavior is necessarily bad just because it is different from other applications. However, if you are not adopting this behavior based on some belief, it seems to me that it might be better to conform to the general behavior of Windows applications to avoid user confusion.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
