Error [PXVLib]: Unable to start scanning process
After a couple of months of using this program and it working just fine, I've now started getting the above error every time that I try to scan something. I've completely rebooted the entire system and also did an update and since there was a update available I updated to version 10.5.2, build 395. I am running this on W11 Pro. I don't know what to do since I can't scan anything anymore. Can someone help me with this?

Hello huskereurocat,
Welcome to our forums.
Sometimes windows will do silent updates as well (e.g. of the driver for your scanner), so can you please try to remove and reinstall the scanner's drivers completely (using the latest package you can find on the device manufacturer's website) and let us know if that helps?
Kind regards,
Stefan

That was the answer. The universal driver for my Epson printer was updated a couple of months ago, so I installed that one. Works great again!!!!
Thanks
Thanks

Hey!
My customer is having this same issue. We have however tried the steps described in this post but issue still remains.
Funny thing is that the scan works perfectly outside of PDFX-change.
Could we request assistance?

Re: Error [PXVLib]: Unable to start scanning process
Hello, thegoose
Thank you for testing the previous steps ahead of time. I assume you have also installed all the latest windows updates, and that you are running the current version of our software (10.6.0.396)?
In that case, the next possibility would be an issue on the windows side. We use core windows communication methods for scanning, which other software may bypass. As a test, can you try starting a scan via MS Paint specifically (this uses the same communication methods we do), and let me know if that experiences any issues?
- If it does, the issue would still be either in the Scanner drivers, or possibly a Windows Update error. In those cases, you will need to contact the device Manufacturer, or Microsoft for assistance.
- If Paint works properly, than we can safely say there is some notable error on our end. In that case, I will need to ask for the scanner make/model, and driver version, as well as your windows version (open the start menu and type "sysinfo" the top two lines, "OS name" and "Version" are important here). With that information, I can pass this along to our Dev team for review and see what we can find.
Depending on their research, the dev team may also ask for a remote session. If it comes to that, would you be amenable to it?

Re: Error [PXVLib]: Unable to start scanning process
I have the same problem.
I can't scan from PDF-XChange Editor Plus v. 10.6.0, build 396 but I can scan from MS Paint
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the scanner drivers, but that didn't fix the problem
The scanner is a Brother MFC-8510DN. I don't know how to tell the driver version but I know it's the latest because I just reinstalled it.
Windows 11 Pro, version 10.0.26100 Build 26100
