When the Select Text Tool is enabled, link annotations work with mouse and stylus, but not with touch

Hello all,

When the Hand tool is enabled, link annotations work regardless of the input device (mouse, stylus, or touch operation). However, when the Select Text Tool is enabled, the link annotations work when operated with the mouse and stylus, but not when operated with touch.

I report this because it seems a bit odd, given that with the Hand Tool it works fine with touch.

I cannot seem to reproduce this. In my tests, I did experience an odd situation where none of these three options worked after updating, despite all the related settings being identical to the defaults, but that is not quite what you have reported.
Manually resetting my settings seemed to fix it, so this could be a carry over effect from something in an older version, but now that has been done, following links with stylus and finger touch both, while the select tool is enabled, seems to work as expected (and of course, I did forget to export settings first, thinking "these are the defaults, there is no reason to do so"...

Can I ask you to export your settings, and then try a reset and see if that fixes the issue? If it does, try re-importing your "broken state" settings, and if the issue returns, despite both being a "default" state, please send us a copy of that export.

I apologize for the inadequate steps to reproduce the issue.

The issue occurs when the "Allow Draw with a Finger Touch" option is disabled in the Commenting category of the Preferences dialog. Even if this option is disabled, the link annotations work with the Hand Tool, but not with the Select Text Tool.

Ahh yes, That interaction is something I brought up internally with the Dev team a while back (when we were discussing the new "middle click functionality actually).
This handling is actually intended, and at this time it will not be changing.

I have confirmed that until build 390, even though the "Allow Draw with a Finger Touch" option was disabled, the link annotations worked fine with finger touch in the Select Text Tool.

In the version history of build 391, there is the following item that may be relevant to this case.

• PDF-XChange Editor Version History - Build 10.4.3.391
  Fixed the issue that was causing the unwanted selection and moving of comments when scrolling by finger with the 'Select Text' and 'Eraser' tools. (43660)

Personally, I feel that the behavior discussed here might have been unintentionally introduced when refactoring the functionality associated with the "Allow Draw with a Finger Touch" option, but since Daniel has stated that it was intentional, I have no choice but to accept the current behavior .

However, I have made an additional report to note that the behavior has changed since build 391 for those who discover this topic in the future.
