After performing any operation in a pane (*) other than the Thumbnails pane, select a page according to the conditions in the Select menu of the Thumbnails pane, and press a shortcut key such as the Delete key, the shortcut key works on the pane (*) you were operating in before the Thumbnails pane.
Three specific examples are given below.
- Search pane
- Comments pane
- Bookmarks pane
Search pane case
- After typing "7" in the input field of Search pane, press Enter to begin the search.
- Open the Thumbnails pane and select "Pages with Search Results" from the menu of options.
- A total of 19 pages corresponding to the Search results will be selected in the Thumbnails pane.
- Press the Delete key.
- The "7" entered in the input field in the Search pane will be deleted.
Comments pane case
- Open the Comments pane and click to select the comment present on the first page.
- Open the Thumbnails pane and select "Pages with Comments" from the Select menu in the Options menu.
- A total of 50 pages will be selected in the Thumbnails pane where the comment exists.
- Press the Delete key
- The comment on the first page selected in the Comments pane will be deleted.
Bookmarks pane case
- Open the Bookmarks pane and click on the bookmark corresponding to page 1.
- Open the Thumbnails pane, and from the Select Options menu, select "Pages that are Bookmark Targets".
- The target page of the bookmark will be selected in the Thumbnails pane for a total of 50 pages.
- Press the Delete key
- The bookmark corresponding to page 1 will be deleted in the Bookmarks pane.
Final Thoughts
If you click on the Thumbnails pane background to activate the Thumbnails pane before operating the Select menu in the Thumbnails pane, everything will work as intended. However, it would seem better to have the Thumbnails pane automatically become active once the pages corresponding to the criteria selected from the Select menu in the Thumbnails pane are selected, and then the shortcut keys would work for the Thumbnails pane from that point on.
Normally, when a page is selected by dragging it in the Thumbnails pane, the Thumbnails pane becomes active without any thought. The only difference is whether you select the page by dragging or by choosing a condition from the Select menu, and the end result is the same: the page is selected. It seems more intuitive, then, that even when a page is selected from the "Select" menu in the Options menu, the Thumbnails pane is also activated, and subsequent shortcut keys act on the Thumbnails pane.
