How to disable unintended feature to remove "click to buy" watermarks?

Post by Raindrops »

Hi

I am using pdf xchange editor v 10.5.0, build 393.

I was annotating a 78-page pdf file, during which I must have pressed some keyboard shortcuts, which activated a paid feature. pdf xchange now shows two "click to buy" watermarks on each page.

Fact is, I never intended to use any paid feature.

Worse, I do not even know which paid feature has got activated!
(The pdf file looks just the same as before.)

How do I remove the unintended+unwanted paid feature (or remove all paid features at once), and get rid of the watermarks?

Hi,

When you are going to use a licensed feature, or just after having used one, you get a clear message at the top of your document.

PDF-XChange Editor - Warning about licensed features.png
°
If you save your document in that situation, demo-stamps including hyperlinks will be embedded. The only way to remove them is to use a licensed version of PDF-XChange Editor (or another PDF-Editor).

See: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgeba ... they-there

To avoid using licensed features in PDF-XChange Editor: click the File-menu > Preferences > Registration, and mark the check-box at "Hide All Unlicensed Features." (= hide all licensed features where you have no license for)

I hope that you still have a previous version of your PDF in question, or a possibility to recreate it, or to get a clean copy (download, restore, ...)

Kind regards.

Hello Willy Van Nuffel,

Once again - many thanks for the detailed post!

@Raindrops
Indeed those "DEMO" stamps are added when you use a licened feature without a valid license, and the way to remove them is to obtain said license.

The alternative is what Willy suggested - to hide all such features to avoid their accidental usage!

Kind regards,
Stefan

I am using a licenced version of PDF-Exchange editor ad still I get stamps with note:'Click to BUY NOW!'
How is this possible? But more importantly, how do I get rid of these annoying marks?

Hello Leonard,

Are you getting the DEMO stamps on newly created files as well?

If so, may I ask you to check under the Help -> License key menu, if you have your license key present there and its status says Valid, Activated?

Greetings,

To the best of my knowledge, the water stamps don't just "Disappear" from a document, they need to be removed manually.

Launch "Edit Content" and then select the waterstamps, and delete them. If you have a paid version, the next time you save, the watermark would not be 're-added' back into the document.

May this be of Good Help;

They don't disappear by themselves, but they will disappear, if you follow these instructions:
