Text correction

Hi,

Some of my scans have incomplete letters/words, like this:

However, after OCR, when I copy this word, the proper text is copied ('practice'), which leads me to believe PDF XChange Editor recognises the word even though the scanning process produced a word with little gaps in it, as shown above.

My question is, is there a text correction option in the software that fills in the missing portions of a letter/word based on the OCR text?

To replace the broken image content with an actual text font, you need to hold a license for our Editor Plus (or PDF-Xchange PRO), which both include the Enhanced OCR. This OCR engine is able to create "editable text" instead of the invisible, searchable text layer you see currently.

If you have access to the EOCR, you simply need to change the output option from "searchable image" to "Editable text and images" before performing OCR. Ensure you do so on a file which does not already have a text layer over this word (Or optionally, disable the "ignore existing text" checkbox).

Thanks for your reply.

I have a license for PDF XChange Editor and OCR allows me to select only one type - Searchable Image.

I should probably upgrade to PDF XChange Editor Plus.

If you need to make these kinds of changes to the text, yes, upgrading to Editor Plus will be a necessity.
