How to use custom stroker color for stamps

Post by Jocelyn »

Hi,

I'm having trouble understanding how the setting for custom stroke setting works.

I've tried making new stamps from selection and by creating custom stamps using native markup tools (lines, rectangles, text, etc.), but this stroke colour adjustment doesn't seem to work for any of the markup tools that make up the stamp.

This setting doesn't apply to any of the standard stamps either.

I can't find elaboration in the help files either.
I also noticed that the free stamps provided also has different sets for different stroke colours.

How does it work? Is this setting limited to some tools only?

Hello Jocelyn,

If you want to change the color of the Stamp itself, that option is not what you need.

This is the color of the border of a selected object.

This is something that you cannot easily see, as this is the border that gets overlapped when the object is selected.

To change its entire color, first you have to flatten it, and an edit it as base content.

Hello Dimitar,

I see, I suppose this means we do have to create separate stamps if we want the stamps in different colours, and there are no plans as of now for direct adjustment of stamp colour from the properties palate in the forseeable future.

Thanks for clarifying!

Best regards,
Jocelyn

Hello, Jocelyn

That is correct, as Stamps can (and even our defaults do) contain a variety of colors, changing all of them at once would not work very well, in most cases obscuring text, hiding shadows, etc.

Perhaps in the future, but it is not something we are planning for at the moment, if my memory serves.

There is a way to do it, but you'd need to install the tool I posted here: viewtopic.php?t=45879

To make your own stamps with this functionality, you need PDF-XChange Editor Plus or PDF-XChange PRO.

I just added an example based on the "standard" stamps. There's a stamps file you can download that includes this functionality (if you have xutil.stampUtils installed)
