Individual files in the PDF portfolio always are opened as tabs within the same window, regardless of settings

Hello all,

When opening individual files in a PDF portfolio, PDF-XChange Editor always opens them as tabs within the same window, regardless of any settings you may have configured (such as enabling the “Open each new document in a new window” option in the Preferences dialog). In contrast, Acrobat applies the settings for opening regular PDF files to PDF portfolios as well.

In the following verification video, for both PDF-XChange Editor and Acrobat Reader, we first enable the setting to open each file in a PDF portfolio as a tab within the same window. We then enable the setting to open each file in a separate window and open the files in the same manner.

In PDF-XChange Editor, regardless of the setting, all files open as tabs within the same window. However, in Acrobat Reader, the setting difference is correctly reflected in how each file within the PDF portfolio opens.

If the settings in the Preferences dialog were also applied when opening PDF portfolios, it might become more user-friendly.

Thank you for the report, I see the same here, and am passing it along. It looks like these are currently treated the same as clicking this button:

instead of being treated like they are using the "file > open" action... Which may be intended, but if that is the case, perhaps a special handling for portfolios is required. I would personally vote for consistency, and have them work like any other attachments however.
