Creating a fillable template

Post by Vanitas »

Dear all, this is the situation.
At the moment I have a printed template that each time I have to fill manually by hand (with a pen). Sometimes I have to fill multiple of them with the same written stuff, it's a huge waste of time.

So I thought that I will scan it, then place Typewriters boxes where usually I would have to write with the pen. Then I created a blank page and copy pasted there the empty textboxes (which kept the same position).

Now the problems:
- The Typewriters boxes are invisible, meaning that unless you know where they are on the blank page you will not find them (you must hoover with the cursor over them). I could make them with a background color, but then also that would be printed.

- I want to put titles above each of these boxes (so that whomever uses it knows what he/she has to write). I guess I can simply put it as "Printable: no"?

- Ideally it would be even better if I could have the scanned template behind the text boxes and then have it set as "Printable: no", is it possible? This would avoid the usage of the above titles (point 2).

- I would like the text boxes to be blocked as dimensions, but still the text inside should be editable (font, dimensions, colors). How can I do that?

Thank you!!!

Hello Vanitas,

In this case, I think it would be better if you use the combination of the Identify Forms tool and the Form Text fields tool:
