Area Limitations for the Highlight Area Tool?

Is there a way of limiting the area selected with the Highlight Area tool so that the area does not exceed the limits of the page?

It seems one can select an area larger than the page in focus as below.

I am looking for an option that would not allow a selection beyond the bounds of the page so it might look like this.

And, furthermore, when I split the page I would like to have the option of limiting the highlighted areas of each page not to exceed the bounds of those pages.

Not this:

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I cannot think of any reason why a highlight area should exceed the bounds of the page but perhaps that reflects on the limitations of my imagination. Perhaps the default should be limited to the page boundaries.

I have both good news and bad news to share.

The request for an “Area Limitations” feature was ultimately rejected. Adding such restrictions to the creation or resizing process could interfere with certain functionalities, and may be perceived by users as unnecessary or even frustrating.

However, our developers do recognize the issue with page splitting when simple rectangular comments (Rectangle, HighlightArea) exceed the page boundaries.
A solution for this behavior is planned and will be implemented in a future update.

Areas exceeding page boundaries is my real issue. If that can be constrained, I think I will be happy. I cannot see a situation where I would want the opportunity to define an area that exceeds page boundaries. Might this also apply to cropped pages?
