BUG Report: Multi-Page Print Order Not Respecting Page Order Selections SOLVED

Print 2 sheets to a page, you expect the default to take those portrait pages and put two, side by side, in landscape mode, same on rear if doing duplex, ad nauseum, using up all the page. That is fine, but what about page order? Page 1,2 on front and 3,4 on back is what any non-Asian user wants. NOT 2,1 on front and 4,3 on back, which is all I could get.

No amount of messing with 1,2 or 2,1 combined with horizontal or vertical, reversed or not could find a combination to get it to work as expected. In PDF-XChange Pro. I could manage to get the pair of pages vertical, on the horizontal page (ie half the sheet being used) and the order correct, but that is hardly any use.

Didn't matter what printer I used, including generating in PDF-XC itself, same dysfunctional printer-preview orientation issue. Giving it the toggle command then printing and seeing if it 'took' anyway, despite the display, was unsuccessful.

Given searching this forum didn't turn up anything similar, there must be a setting / whatever I have missed that allows this silliness to occur. Why me? Only me? It didn't matter for the check-prints I was doing today, but it will be really important for professional docs I will need to generate in due course.

By way of diagnostics, in some half-full configurations that were ultimately unhelpful, reversed and normal would change the preview accordingly. For full (half) sized pages, this toggle was not respected and the preview remained locked on the backwards views. I didn't experiment with other densities (eg 4 to a page) because I do not want to use them!

This is a new P-X installation, barely a week old, on a Win 11 64 Pro PC on the latest fully updated 24H2 service pack.

I have retitled the OP to Bug Report, because it is. I would appreciate knowing if others can replicate it. Pretty simple workflow:

File, Print
In Printer section, leave as Default or select PDF-Xchange Standard, for fun – makes no difference
In Pages section, select Pages and All
In Page Placement and Scaling section, select Type of Multiple Pages per Sheet.

At this point, the Preview changes and it SHOULD go to the sensible default, no manipulation required. But I see p2 on left (ie bottom) and p1 on right (ie top)

The example document I just printed matters, so I did it normal 2-sided given this more compressed but useful format is dysfunctional. The page with the blue stripe at the top is page #1. Here are a few screen-dumps; I could have made a lot more with different selections, but seemed to be little point. Either this is a massive bug that got through, or I found some unique way to stuff it.

Hello VinceS,

You might want to try setting the Orientation to Landscape in the Page Setup dialog.

Thank you for that rakunavi, with the page setup on landscape, I soon found a combo of options that worked, being 2 (2/1) and Vertical or Horizontal, both were trhe same layout! Notably, Vertical Reversed did activate (to put p2 first) but horiz reversed did nothing.

There is definitely a bug with how this all hangs together, but thanks again for pointing out a workaround.
