[build 362] The “Export to Image(s)” feature reflects the Accessibility feature (Override Document Colors) settings

Post by rakunavi »

Hello all,

In PDF-XChange Editor, since build 362, I noticed that Accessibility feature (Override Document Colors) settings are applied when converting to image files using the “Export to Image(s)” feature. PDF accessibility features are designed to temporarily assist visibility by altering the display in an auxiliary manner while preserving the original information. Therefore, in common PDF software like Adobe Acrobat or Foxit PDF Editor, enabling Accessibility features does not affect the output when converting to images.

In the latest build of PDF-XChange Editor, the “Rasterize Pages” feature also does not affect the output image result, even if Accessibility features are enabled. Since the “Rasterize Pages” feature and the “Export to Image(s)” feature are similar in terms of irreversible file conversion, many users likely expect the same behavior regardless of whether Accessibility features are applied.

In the following verification video, for both build 361 and build 401, the Accessibility feature was enabled based on the default settings, the document background color was specified, and then the “Export to Image(s)” command was executed.

Of course, users could simply disable Accessibility features when using “Export to Image(s)”. However, since this behavior is unique compared to most other PDF software, I'm very interested in whether the change introduced in build 362 was intentional on the part of the developers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

Best regards,
rakunavi
