Use Shift+Enter to go to previous entry in find

Post by toshiki »

In the browser, Shift+Enter takes the highlight to the previous found entry in the find function (Ctrl+F). I want to do the same in Pdf-xchange. Changing the "Go to previous entry" command in "Customize Toolbars" doesn't work.

Hello toshiki,

The key combination for that function is Shift + F3 and it works fine.

Hello toshiki,

A feature request has been submitted regarding this matter in the past.

As you pointed out, simply assigning “Shift+Enter” instead of “Shift+F3” as the shortcut key does not provide a complete alternative. That very point is likely why the ticket was issued.

Best regards,
rakunavi

The point is not that Shift+F3 works, the point is that the keyboard shortcut can be customized in "Customize Toolbars". I customized it to be Shift+Enter, but that doesn't work. It's a bug.

Hello, toshiki

Unfortunately in most areas, "enter" itself is a hardcoded action which takes precedence over custom commands, this is one of those situation. If you use most other key combinations, beyond anything involving the "Enter" key, this should work as desired. It is not a bug, but for the time being you will need to find another key combination to use.

As Rakunavi mentioned, we have the currently open ticket RT#5306, which is specifically intended to change this handling, and make Shift_Enter the default for backwards navigation. I have added your support to it, so we can hopefully see a priority increase, but I should warn that at this time, we have much ongoing, and not enough time to solve it all in a timely manner.
Personally, I do not forsee this ticket being implemented anytime "soon".

Kind regards,
