Let's create 5 pages: 1,2,3,4,5 and view page "5"

Drag page "1" to another place, I'd like to see page "1" now, but it stays on page "5"

When holding the control key while dragging page "1" the result is even more interesting...

PS: additional feature request: when activating a certain page (e.g. 999 by clicking on the thumbnails) and activate the content panel, it would be nice to have this page selected (actually it is needed to scroll around)

Both of those behaviors are expected. We do not change the "viewed" page. You remain looking at the "current page" based on its physical ordering.
eg;

• You are looking at the page in "slot #5" which happens to be "Page 5".
• You move page 1 to a new location, but remain looking at the page in slot #5
• You then duplicate a page into slot #4, which moves all of the pages after that up one. You still remain looking at the page in "Slot #5, however, now Slot #5 contains the page with the number 4 on it.

Regarding your latter request, if you select any content on the target page, after using the thumbnails pane to navigate there, then this option will help ensure that the correct page and selected content is visible in the content pane:

Thanks for explanation, the "slot" thing seems to be logical for a programmer but not that logical for a user.

I thought clicking on a thumbnail page would put that page active in the editor even when drag and drop is done.
Okay, this is not correct for dragging - so the next "logical" idea would be that the edited page would be still active when other pages are moved.
But changing here to a page because of staying at the same slot should be checked - I am unsure if anyone who edits page 5 and moves pages 5 to 8 to position 3 want's to see the former page 7 then for editing.

The "Automatically expand content" is a good hint (and was enabled here), but my first step for navigating is the thumbnail pane or doing a find. Both do not change the position in the content list and so for me it seems if the cursor is glued on page 1 and I have to scroll hundreds of pages down
So maybe an additional option "Automatically scroll to active page" could be invented which scrolls to the displayed page when this option is active, the content pane is visible and the position of the edited page is not visible in the content window.
