Printing 3 up postcards

Post by Elmodea777 »

I'm printing 3 up postcards, and they all print great, until I get to the last one. The last page/sheet like all of them, has 3 cards on it. But the final sheet only has to print 2 postcards, so it makes them both bigger and they don't fit on the "card" as they should. How can I fix this? Thanks!

Hello, Elmodea777

Can I ask for a screenshot of your print dialogue showing the issue? On my end, when using multiple pages per sheet, the two leftover pages seem to print as expected, though perhaps I am missing something?

Hello Elmodea777,

By any chance, are you using the N-up printing feature in your printer driver instead of PDF-XChange Editor? If so, you could simply add one page of the same size at the end to make the total number of pages a multiple of three.

If you are using the features of PDF-XChange Editor, it seems unlikely that you would encounter the results you described, as Daniel mentioned. If you are using the printer driver's features, however, implementations vary by manufacturer and model, so it wouldn't be surprising if such behavior occurred.

Best regards,
rakunavi

Hello,

That could indeed have an impact as well, Please check Rakunavi's suggestion here as it may be influencing the print.

So I added a blank page in PDFXchange. That didn't fix it. I am uploading a screenshot and this shows how much bigger the last one is compared to the others. I am uploading the full file too so you can see it at the end of the file. Thank you. I am printing from PDFXchange.

I can't really ADD another card to the end of the file that I am printing. At least I'm not sure how to do it in PDF Xchange.

Hello, Elmodea777

Thank you for the file, but it has me a bit more confused than before. Is this the file your are trying to print, or is this the result of printing?
I ask becuase this file was not created by our software, so we would certainly not have an influence in the creation method.

If the issue is with the layout you already see in place in this document, you may need to reach out to them for assistance on how to configure their software to generate the last page properly to match the rest.

If you just need a quick solution for this file, what you can do is two separate print jobs, one normal job at full size for pages 1-69;
image(1).png
Then a second one for page 70, where you manually set the scaling to 66%, which should give the content the same size as the other pages;
image(2).png
Moving forward, if this file is instead a scan of the printout from our software (meaning that before printing from our software, you have a different document, where each of these 3-up pages is literally 3 separate pages) I can only refer back to what Rakunavi noted.
Nothing in our software would be able to cause this, so it must be a printer/device driver setting. If there is no option to control it, you will need to contact your Device manufacturer to see if they can help address the issue.

Hello Elmodea777, thank you for your feedback.

Your PDF should have been generated using Telerik Reporting's N-up printing feature. Therefore, you should review the settings within Telerik Reporting itself. Using PDF editing software to modify PDFs created by other software is only a temporary workaround and not a fundamental solution.

However, since this is the PDF-XChange Editor forum, I'll share a video below as a reference for a possible temporary workaround.

  1. Resize page 70 to 68.9%.
  2. Align page 70 to the size of other pages using its top-left corner as the reference point. Set an offset of approximately 3pt horizontally and 3.6pt vertically during this process.

    figure2.png

    Animation.gif
  • output.pdf
Since this is a temporary fix, methods may vary depending on the person.

P.S.
I noticed Daniel had already commented before I pressed the final reply button, but since I drafted my response at nearly the same time, I'll post it here for reference. If only I'd pressed it five seconds sooner... :lol:

Best regards,
rakunavi
