Copy Chinese text; unwanted spacing between each original line break

Hi there,

In the case of copying Chinese text from a PDF, unwanted spacing between each original line break is appended after pasting.

This happens in Build 10.5.0.393 (Jan 14th, 2025).
However, no such problem in Build 10.2.1.385 (Jan 22nd, 2024).

Both two versions use the same setting files (.xces) for testing.

I hope the older version of the copying behavior of Chinese text can be preserved; it would be hassle-free for Chinese text users like me.

There have been a few changes over the years in this respect, The encircled options in the preferences menu (Ctrl_K) can have an effect on this, with the "copy white space mode" option having the largest impact. First try changing that option to "Preserve only original whitespace" and see if that resolves the issue.
If not, you will want to test the other options and see if any configuration here helps in your situation.

I have tried the option to "Preserve only original whitespace," but it doesn't help. Neither are the other options in the color rectangle mark. This is tested in the Build 10.5.0.393 (Jan 14th, 2025).

I want to install the older but no-problem version, Build 10.2.1.385 (Jan 22nd, 2024), for a short-term solution. Is there a download link for this version's installer? Even though it can be found outside the pdf-xchange website, I prefer to download it from the pdf-xchange website for security.

We just released build 395 - can you please test with it and let us know if copying of your text works better with it?
Also - if you try to copy the same text in another PDF software - is it pasted differently there?

I hope there is an option for the same copy behavior as Adobe Acrobat Reader.

In testing, I see the same here, however, I unfortunately do not currently have a workaround to offer. I have escalated this to the Dev team for review however, and will get back to you as soon as I hear from them.

We have a ticket for this now, unfortunately it is not something I can offer a workaround for, but our dev team will be investigating it and working on a resolution for the future.

The issue reported in this topic also occurs in Japanese. It should apply to all users using languages that do not insert spaces between words (languages that do not perform word segmentation). I agree with the reporter's observation that it worked correctly up to build 385. The verification video below uses the same sample file reported in the following topic.

In the video, the following steps are performed on both build 385 and build 404.

1. Fully reset the settings.
2. In the Preferences dialog, disable the option “Add line breaks after every text line to match the visual layout of what was copied”.
3. Enable the Select Text tool, select the text, and then copy it.
4. Paste it into the text editor.

The lower half of the screen displays the text editor, which is pre-configured to highlight space characters with a red marker. Verify that space characters exist only in the paste result for build 404.

The same issue occurs when selecting words that span multiple lines and executing the search or find command from the context menu. Since this relates to the behavior when saved as plain text mentioned in Issue 1 of RT#6440, it would be greatly appreciated if this could be improved together.
