Undesired Resizing Output

Post by PHK »

I start to resize a sheet like this

image.png

and I make one parameter change (Height) to get this

image(1).png

I don't want to say this is a 'bug' or anything like that but I don't like the result. I'd rather not have the width and height flipped even in the input boxes indicate the contrary.

Any comments?

Hello, PHK

If you uncheck the "retain orientation" option this will cease to happen. The reason this occurs is to keep the editable values in the same box, while keeping the page either portrait or landscape, as it currently exists.

Ah, thank you, Daniel.

Obviously, I am having trouble keeping up with these new fangled features.

WAIT! I'm not finished on this one. Yeah, OK, I get what you're saying about the Retain Orientation feature. However, it does seem to me that there is something not quite right. And that is that although the sheet is resized as specified and the portrait/landscape orientation is retained, the numbers for Width and Height have not changed to reflect the true dimensions of the post-procedure sheet in the paper size boxes.

Hello, PHK

The UI will not be dynamically changing the labels for the boxes here to account for such scenarios. The functionality here is intended to work and be displayed as it currently does.

When you type in the "height" field - you are modifying the dimension which was originally the "height" of the page. Until you commit that change, and then re-open the dialogue, these values will remain in the initial box where they were modified.

Yes, but if the orientation remains the same the provisional numerical units in the width and height boxes are not 'true' and do not agree with the provisional sheet or the provsional dimensions shown in the preview window.

I know what you're saying and I understand it might be a bear to write code that would eliminate this inconsistency but it might be confusing to the novice user.

Merry Christmas!

Hi, Phil,

at the end of the day, it works as expected when the correct options are chosen, so this will not be changing I am afraid.
