The days of roaming profiles are over, and currently our users need to set up their PDF-XChange settings (including custom stamps etc) from scratch whenever they get issued a refresh computer - or they will have to be mindful to export/import (that never happens). Would it be possible for these settings to migrate more seamlessly, e.g. by pointing them to be stored in cloud synced folders like OneDrive for Business?
According to AI it's a no-go, but one can still hope:
"It is not recommended to point PDF-Xchange directly to a cloud folder (like pointing the application to read stamps from Dropbox) because the software "locks" the stamp file when open. If you have the editor open on two computers simultaneously, it can cause file conflicts or corruption. It is safer to copy the files or import/export them as needed."
Auto-migrate settings using cloud storage?

Re: Auto-migrate settings using cloud storage?
Hi, jmi
the AI is reasonable in the context of multiple devices sharing common settings, but as a mechanism to deliver a settings file it is not unreasonable.
Most settings are stored in the Windows Registry under HKCU, but not all. Personal stamps and Digital signature templates for example are in %appdata%
Some users use FSLogix to provide a seamless user data experience. It is intended primarily for VDI environments however, and I believe yo are specifically talking replaced hardware. Right?
For physical PCs asking your users to export first really is the only option. I assume you have an IT department replacing the PCs? Can they coordinate with the users to ensure an export is performed?

Hi Paul, I was hoping for something more seamless and modern. Thanks for checking, though.
