Hand tool is the only option for interacting with documents.

Post by rpalx »

It doesn't matter if I'm trying to comment, add text, select text, draw an arrow -- you name it, the only cursor available to me is a Hand tool. I can't even right click on a document anywhere to interact with the media. Already emailed help and was provided the generic reply of "OK silly, you can't select text on images, your PDF must be an image" -- obviously, I'm not trying to do that.

Brand new install of current release software. Have tried hard reset, reboot, opening many different PDFs, even the PDF help file that comes with the install -- still, the only way I can interact with a document is with what looks and behaves like a Hand tool, regardless of what I've selected in the Ribbon.

Very strange bug. Would appreciate some problem-solving ideas from the community, especially if it can be assumed I'm computer-literate and have already tried everything a reasonable programmer would do to solve the issue. Thanks so much!

Hello, rpalx

I think I helped you by email, your initial report only specified the Select text tool, which is why I offered an explanation about the difference between text and image/shape content in a PDF, but now that we know it affects ALL commenting tools, please do check these options:

I expect, based on your description - that these are the culprit of what you see. They are supposed to be enabled by default, but if you have unchecked them, it would cause the problem you report.

Kind regards,
