Updated PDF-XChange Editor, License Key no longer working SOLVED
I purchased a license for PDF-XChange Editor a couple of years ago. Today, I updated the software, and all of a sudden, it's acting as if I don't have a license. The license is still listed in Preferences => Registration, and trying to add the license key from my account results in "1 license key has been skipped because it has already been installed," but many features have the little shopping cart symbol and warn me that they'll add a DEMO stamp to my documents. How can I rectify this? I could try deleting and re-entering my license, but I'm worried that I won't be able to re-enter the license key once it's deleted.

Re: Updated PDF-XChange Editor, License Key no longer working
Hello, Imaginita
I had to edit your image before approve a bit here. In the future, please do not post images or text with your license key visible, this is a public forum and anyone can see these images.
Onto the issue at hand, as you can see, the "maintenance" on your license expired in Jun 2024 - this means your license is restricted to use on versions of the software released before that date. The key itself is perpetual, but maintenance is what grants you access to new releases.
Our Updater utility is intentionally version aware, and so it will not offer updates that go beyond your maintenance plan without your explicit intentions to make it do so, and it presents a clear warning before installing if you did make it do so. As such, the only way this could have happened is if you intentionally updated beyond your maintenance coverage, or a third party utility which is beyond our control, had its hands in the process..
In cases like this, you will either need to roll back to the version which your license can cover, or renew maintenance on your existing license, to gain access to the current release.
Kind regards,

- To roll back, you will need to check your own local files (commonly the downloads folder) and look for our older installers. Search for *.MSI and *.zip files, for anything with "PDF" in the name that was downloaded around or before Jun 2024.
- If you cannot find the older installer, I am sorry to say we do not keep copies of such older versions on hand any longer, and so you will need to renew the maintenance on your license. This can be done from your account page.
