Naming Files as imported Content out of .csv

Post by FunSpaß »

Hi, i have created a pdf with fields that can be interactive with text boxes and check boxes. I am importing the data out of .csv and it is all great but the naming of the created files is a little confusing. I have managed only to get the files with original name and then the number at the end like Original name_1.pdf Original name_2.pdf and so on. Can you tell me is it possible to name the files so that they contain the data from one column? For example if there is an adress or name column can I create series of documents like Original name_adress1_firstname1.pdf then Original name_adress2_firstname2.pdf and so on. Thank you.

Hi, FunSpaß

welcome to the forums.

I am afraid we do not have such a function as far as I know.
Best regards

Hello FunSpaß,

You might be able to achieve what you want by using the %[ColIndex:N] or %[ColName:Name] macros. In that case, this post should be helpful.

This macro uses the form data from either the Column Index or the Column Name to determine the name of the output file. Two options are available:

%[ColIndex:N] - where 'N' is the column’s index number.
%[ColName:Name] - where 'Name' is the column name from which the data is taken.

For example, if the document "Sample Form" is used to populate a form, and the first row of information is used to populate the form, then the filename macro %[FileName]_%[ColIndex:<1>] will output a document entitled "Sample Form_123".

If the macro %[ColName:Field2] is used instead, then the output document will be entitled "Sample Form_234".

Please forgive me if my comment misses the point.
