This is for future use because I just ended up doing it manually this time. Let me start with the scenario:
I have two sets of documents, one set will be the final document, and the second set is always a single page document. The single page documents are all inserted into the final documents as Page 2, so "After First Page." Currently, the documents, both the final and single page are NOT named the same, but they can be, if it helps. In PDF Tools, I tried every way I could see to make this happen and couldn't. Maybe it's not possible to batch process, but it seems like it should be.
Example: 3-page doc named "Affinity Auto Sales LLC.pdf" and a 1-page doc named, "Affinity.pdf." After the process, "Affinity.pdf." becomes Page 2 of "Affinity Auto Sales LLC.pdf," and PDF Tools goes on to the next set; "Fox Valley Volkswagen.pdf" and "Fox Valley.pdf"
Thanks for your help!

Re: Insert different pages into multiple documents
Hello, SMB-AZ
For the example below I will generalize some terms:
"Input document" = The longer file within which you wish to insert pages.
"Cover sheet" = the singular file you are planning to insert into the Input document.
If you are reliably inserting the same "Cover sheet" pages to multiple "Input Documents", than yes you can automate this.
You need only define that "cover [page" document, to be inserted via the "insert pages" action, and disable the "batch processing mode" toggle for the tool (so each file is processed and saved independently).
Then you can supply all of the "Input Documents" to the tool at once, and the same "cover page" will be added (after page 1) automatically to each processed file.
If every "Input Document" needs a different/unique "Cover page" to be in place, than there is no surefire way to automate this.
In that scenario, you might honestly be better served by using the Editor for the process, so you can manually Drag the "cover sheet" files into the thumbnails pane of each opened "Input Document", and then directly save it overwriting the original. In either case, it will require you either manually sorting through all of your "Cover sheets" to choose for each processed file, or making multiple unique copies of the insert pages tool (on PDF-Tools) pre-configured to use each "Cover Sheet", and then running each respective tool only on the "Input Documents" that need each.
Kind regards,

Re: Insert different pages into multiple documents
Thanks, Dan. I'm in the 2nd scenario, and that's kind of what I thought would have to take place. I got a lesson in adding the same cover sheet into all the input documents when I thought the program would stop at each one to ask me to specify the cover sheet to add. Thankfully, I'd saved copies of all of the original input documents in a separate folder in case something weird happened, so no harm done. Thanks for your help and have a good week!

Re: Insert different pages into multiple documents
Hello SMB-AZ,
If you have pre-organized each combination of documents you want to insert—that is, sets of “Input document” and “Cover sheet”—into separate folders, then combining the “Split/Merge Documents” action with the “Move Pages” action might achieve what you want to do.
There are the following limitations, but they shouldn't be a problem in your case.

There are the following limitations, but they shouldn't be a problem in your case.
- The number of pages in "Cover sheet" is the same for each set.
- "Cover sheet" is inserted at the same page position for each set.
- When saving files to a folder, name them so that “Cover sheet” comes before “Input document” in alphabetical order.
- (*) The screen capture is extremely long vertically, so it has been divided into three sections in the figure above for easier viewing.

Re: Insert different pages into multiple documents
Thanks, rakunavi, this looks promising! I'll have to try it the next time I have to make documents for this.
