Can Page Background Color Adjustment Be Supported for Image-Based PDFs?

In vector-based PDFs, the page background color can be changed using the Accessibility feature, which is very helpful for reducing eye strain. However, this option does not work with image-based PDFs, as shown in the comparison images below.

Is there a way to extend or improve this feature so that background color adjustments also apply to image-based PDFs? Better support for this type of document would greatly improve readability and user comfort.

Indeed, it should. With that said, in the meantime, the "dark pages mode" (Ctrl+Shift+3) does have an in progress implementation of this exclusively with a dark background color. You will notice that it only take effect if the background is a large percentage of the image color.

I hope this helps as an interim option, since this feature request is unfortunately not a high priority.
