In PDF-XChange Editor, the font for tooltips in link annotations and form fields appears to be fixed to Arial and cannot be changed. When a tooltip contains non-Latin characters, such as Japanese glyphs, the Latin characters are displayed in Arial while the Japanese glyphs fall back to "MS P Mincho."
I would like to suggest that these tooltips respect the font settings configured in "Customize UI" for the following reasons:
#1 Visual Consistency
- Arial is a sans-serif font, whereas "MS P Mincho" is a serif font. This mixture creates a lack of visual unity. For English users, this would be as jarring as having alphabets forced into Arial while numbers are forced into Times New Roman within the same string.
- In Japanese fonts, the backslash (U+005C) is typically rendered as a Yen symbol (¥).
When the file path of the GoToR action is displayed as a tooltip for a link annotation, the backslash is rendered as a Latin character in the Arial font, causing it to appear as a backslash rather than a Yen symbol.
On the other hand, in standard UI field such as the Links pane and action dialogs, the entire string is displayed in the same font. Therefore, if a Japanese font is set in Customize UI, the backslash will appear as a Yen symbol.
This results in inconsistencies between tooltips and the display in Links pane and action dialogs, leading to a lack of consistency in the user experience.
